Aphrodite's Garden

Drought tolerant planting underpins our design which takes a subtle, yet playful approach to imagining ‘Aphrodite’s Garden’. Sense becomes sensual where each element of the garden exemplifies the eponymous aphrodisiac. The garden arouses sensations of warmth and tactility, while scent and form foster privacy and intimacy.

As well as the luscious planting, the Aphrodite theme has been woven through other aspects of the garden. In addition to its aesthetic appeal and conceptual relevance, crushed whelk shells add to the sustainable underpinnings of the design. Shell mulch - post-consumer waste from the shellfish industry - proved a more conscientious alternative to gravel, while adding to soil health and natural, non- harmful pest repellent.
